The MTN Kampala marathon was aimed at raising funds for the provision for safe drinking water to rural areas in Uganda, thus themed ‘Running for Water’. This marathon attracted 1000s of people to participate from all demographic, kids, women men, army personals, and government officials like honorable Katumba Wamala.
The long distance races were all won by Kenyan’s who were rewarded with the grand prize of 14 million shillings. The Ugandan’s won in the 10 km races Phillip Kipyeko won the men’s 10km title while Nancy Cheptegei won the women’s race. Daniel Rotich won the men’s 21km distance race while the women’s race in this category was won by Linet Toroitich
